Goodbye My Sweet Boy Zach

Well, the inevitable finally happened. We had to say goodbye to our sweet sweet boy Zachary. I'm not sure how many more goodbye's I can take. First, we said goodbye to Jay's Mom. Then, we said goodbye to our sweet little girl Renee. Jay's Grandmother just passed away right before Easter. We went to the memorial on Saturday and Sunday morning we found Zach. He had passed away in his sleep. I guess that's the only good part about it. We didn't have to make the dreadful decision.
He will be very very missed. He already is. We had a routine, and I keep thinking I'll see him in each of the spots he would typically be in throughout the day. He's not. Losing a loved one, whether furry, feathered or not, is hard.
I wanted to share a few photos of my handsome little man throughout the years.

This was his first day with us. By day 4 we knew he couldn't be an "only cat" and adopted a brother for him.
Here was one of his many bathtimes. Boy did he dislike getting wet!

What he did like, though, was Christmas. He and his brother knew exactly what the stockings meant and as soon as we'd put them on the floor they'd dive in. They always found catnip, treats, and more toys.

Sometimes all I'd find were feet when I was searching for him. He went thru a phase of this for about a year.

The guy loved to watch for birds and people. He couldn't wait to see anything move.

Sleeping ranked right at the top of his list as a favorite activity. It was most enjoyable in the sun or with a cuddly toy.
We had 14 great years with him and we have a lot of memories to cherish. He was a great Supervisor and my morning sidekick. Cait's having a hard time adjusting to life without him, but we'll all get through.
We love you Zach-y boy - you will be missed.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear about your handsome Zachary! What a beautiful boy, and I see how precious he was to you. As I was mowing the lawn today I passed our Oliver kitty's final resting place. And months later, it still hurts some. But I feel such peace for him now, and I know you will for your Zach too. Hugs to you... we love them so and it's tough to say goodbye :( -Tammy
