Spoiled

Chickens are supposed to like breads and baked goods.

Mine are less than impressed.

The newer girls are less picky than the original 12.

They'll eventually eat some of it, however, they always wait to see if something better might be coming first.

How about any of your chickens?  Are they finicky about anything?

I don't have chickens, but my dogs are the same way. A few will practically take your hand off to eat a scrap of bread and a couple will look at me like I'm crazy with "And why would I eat that?!"

When I throw stale bread, or any other food from the house to my girls, they always look at me as if to say, "What else to you have for me?". They do have their favorites, though, and anything made with grain (bread, tortillas, cereal) tops their list.

my hens really liked the cabbage leaves i pulled off over the summer. couldn't get enough of them.

then, around the holidays, i gave them the outer leaves of the heads that had been in the frig. they raised their beaks in distain.

generally i find them to be excellent recyclers of all things food and vaguely food.

Well... my chickens absolutely REFUSE to eat those little square carrots that comes in take-out Chinese food fried rice..and they weren't very fond of that cooked pumpkin I put in their run that time. They don't particularly care for Cheerios. But, other than that? GAME ON for anything I toss down on the ground for them. lol

Well... mine love the famous spaghetti noodles, and warm oatmeal (thanks to your idea!). If I'm not ambitious (most days ;)).. I take out raw quick oats, and it doesn't last long either. The other day I took out a halved acorn squash that was only a little past its prime. What a treat for them in the dead of winter.. they adored it! You have beautiful chickens, by the way :) Great pic! -Tammy

Since I can't have chickens, I live vicariously through people like you who do--I enjoy your pictures and posts about them, but have read on other blogs that their chickens are just crazy about spaghetti noodles...

Oh yes, spaghetti noodles are definitely a hit around here. Warm rice is as well. Mine are also finicky about squash - sometimes they love it and other times it's ok.

I think mine would eat almost anything but they didn’t like pumpkins and I was so disappointed :(

Mine don't like bread either. Their favorites are melons, spinach, lettuce and warm oatmeal.
