Weekend
The weekend is over.
It was an exciting one, however, because Spring has made it's grand entrance for the year.
The weekend started off with a "bang"!
We made it to 60 degrees on Friday.
Jay and I celebrated by grilling the first burgers of the season.
Yum...burgers and potato salad, an all time favorite.
Speaking of potato salad - do you drizzle white vinegar over your warm potatoes after they've been drained? I do. It adds a wonderful flavor to them. Just 2 - 3 T. (more if you desire).
We had a lot of sunshine over the weekend and temp.'s not too bad, in the low 40's.
Today, however, was another story.
More snow.
The photo above is of the girls tonight, not wanting to cross the snow to get to the fence. Trudy was the only brave one. She knew her toes wouldn't freeze!
It was a fairly relaxing weekend. As you saw from the previous post I finally tackled the Chicken Coop post.
I also started some more bean sprouts in the sprouter. Mung beans are a favorite of ours (in salads) and of the girls.
Did you know that the water drained off the bean seeds is great for watering your houseplants? They perk up in almost instant delight over the special treat.
How was your weekend? How did you welcome Spring?

Vinegar huh? I'll have to give that a try! Potato salad is a definite summertime treat, but we bbq all year long. Well, the Artist does anyway. : )
really? vinegar over warm potatoes?? i'll have to give it a shot.
i love mustard potato salad and burgers...yum!
I love anything cooked on the grill, especially a hamburger, and love, love love potato salad! My Mom who passed away 3 years ago was an expert in making it, and I've no idea what her secret was--After reading your post, I'm wondering if the vinegar wasn't the secret, that and all the love she put into it!! :-)
We celebrated spring this weekend by opening up the windows and getting all that winter air out!!
I'm telling you vinegar on the warm potatoes is a VERY good thing! I don't even remember where I found that tip. Kim, it's so nice that you have that memory of your mom. Her secret probably was the love. Love is a good thing when you're cooking!! :)

Visiting for the first time from Little Red House. Your weekend sounds delightful - especially the burgers on the grill and potato salad! Too bad about the snow! Happy Spring. It's here today despite the cold.
Best to you,
Lynn
Happy Spring to you. The girls look like they are ready for Spring. Beautiful chickens. What breed are your birds?
I don't add vinegar to my warm potato salad but, I do know that it is a traditional way to enjoy potato salad in Germany and some Eastern European countries.
Love your blog.

Sounds like a very nice way to start Spring... we had a great weekend in Kentucky, plus I had chicks hatch :)
Having joined Mosaic Monday this week I am now enjoying blog hopping around the world admiring everyone else's beautiful photography and gaining inspiration. It cheers me when so much of the world around us is in turmoil for one reason or another.
Marans are just the best in terms of hens :)
