I had so many plans for this weekend.
Instead, I did practically nothing.
We're between seasons so I'm fighting off a sinus infection.  I've had one of those headaches that just drains you.

On a brighter note, the sun shined bright all weekend.
It melted a lot of the snow.
Emerson is not happy.  He grazes on the snow constantly when he's outside.
When it's gone he'll be bummed.

We're getting double digits of eggs every day now.
We receive 10 - 13 a day.  What good girls!
Celebration was rice and yogurt for breakfast this morning.
It's an all time favorite.
They had it fully consumed by the time I was finished cleaning the inside of their coop.

Speaking of the chickens, I've been looking at a "natural" de-wormer that you put in their food all the time.
Supposedly it's safe for egg consumption.
Have any of you tried this?  I'd love to hear your thoughts if you have.

I did a small amount of baking this weekend.  I made Pumpkin Cream Cheese bread.
I still have frozen pumpkin puree from my garden that I'm using up.
It's very good - nice and moist.
I'll post the recipe this week.

Tonight I was finally feeling a little better so I decided to try my hand at making Baklava.
Jay is thrilled.
I've never made it before.  My mother made it once and now Jay has been asking me to make it.
Do you know the recipe calls for 3 sticks of butter????  No wonder he likes it.
I think it may have turned out.  It looks right, now we'll have to send the taste tester in to see if it tastes right.

I'm going to place my plant orders tonight.
I'm getting anxious for the weather to turn warmer.
I'm ordering some willow plants to put along the back of our property for privacy.  According to the description they should grow to be about 7 feet tall the first year.  Perfect.  Cross my fingers and hope so.

I've almost finished the book "Growing a Farmer" by Kurt Timmermeister.
Love it!  It's a wonderful read and I highly recommend it.

How about you - how was your weekend?

Sorry about the sinus headache. My allergies have been a bit more active lately too and hubby's been coughing a lot. Baklava is too rich for my blood - now I know why with all that butter...

Hi Staci,
I hope your sinus infection isn't getting any worse. I hate this time of year...where it teases you with over 80 degree temperatures and then reverts back to freezing drizzle and snow like today and tomorrow. Wednesday we have a warmer sunny day and the beginning of a warming trend...I can't wait to get outside! Your 'girls' are really doing well with their egg laying and they deserved that yummy treat. I've never tried that worming solution but I've been thinking about it. We need some things from the feed store so I think I'll look into that while we're there. You had a busy weekend cooking...I can almost smell that bread! We worked on our bathroom ....we're still at it but we should finish it up this week. It's looking better than I imagined so far ...I'm pleased. The icing on the cake will be the new sink...I can't wait to see it in there. Hubby did a great job on the cabinet he built so I'm VERY happy. I hope you're enjoying a sunny warmer day.
Maura :)
