Another weekend has come and almost gone.  I spent Saturday working.  Today we had my mom over for lunch.  I made Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches.....yum.  All the "kids" were thrilled to see their grandma.  They slept hard after she left because of all the excitement.

After last weeks upper 70's and low 80 degree weather, my yard is beginning to look like Spring.  Only one problem.......tomorrow night our lows will be 16 degrees and it will continue to be below freezing most of the week.  I'll be covering up a large portion of my garden and yard.  We actually had to turn the pellet stove on last night.

The nice thing about green grass and things growing is that the chickens get a variety to eat.  You can't even walk toward the garden without them running to the door of their outdoor coop, begging for something scrumptious.  They're so cute you can't help but dig things up for them.

Jack's birthday week has come to an end.  He's slightly bummed.

I made Ina Garten's Chocolate Cupcakes with Peanut Butter frosting this weekend.  Have you made these? They are really good.  The cupcake isn't very sweet, so the sweetness of the frosting works well.  I'll be posting the recipe on my cooking blog later in the week.  Tonight I'll be making a few of the Candy Bar Pretzels for lunches this week.

Hoping you all had a wonderful weekend!

Candy Bar Pretzels for lunch. I totally approve. ;)

Sounds like a nice weekend! Ours was happily stormy.

Your weekend sounds very much like mine. We went to town and cooked my mother-in-law a birthday breakfast. Before heading home we stopped by Home Depot and picked up some fencing items to finish off the coop area. Spent the rest of the weekend working on the detail parts of the coop and planting fence posts.
Our temps won't be as low as yours but we haven't seen even 70 degree temps yet either.
Have a great week.

I didn't realize you had a cooking blog. I will go there right now. Your cupcakes sound delightfully deadly! Deadly because if I made them, I'd eat them all.

Ha! Very funny Meg....not quite for lunch but rather with lunch. :) Yes Ellen - I put my recipes on to a separate blog so they can be categorized by season, recipe type and ingredients. Mary Ann I have no doubt we will be keeping the cold. The only good thing is the ticks aren't so active. :) Thanks drypond! Snooks - sounds like a great way to spend the weekend.
Thanks all!
