Last Fall I was standing outside the truck at Lowe's while Jay and a guy that worked there loaded a ton of pellets. I had Oliver and Emerson on their leashes and was entertaining them on the very small patch of grass I found.
A man walked up to me and engaged in a conversation about French Bulldogs. He told me that a friend of his has one and he's currently looking for one too. He then told me the reason he's purchasing the breed is because they don't bark. I tried, very kindly, to correct him, but he was adamant.
Although all dogs, regardless of breed, are different, I have a hard time believing there's a breed of dog that doesn't bark. French Bulldogs are certainly not that breed. Oliver loves to bark. They guy actually lives to bark. If someone comes on our property, he barks. If someone leaves our property, he barks. If someone drives down the side street next to our property, he barks. If he doesn't get his way, he barks. And so on and so forth. Emerson doesn't bark much at home, but take him out of his element and he turns into a barking machine.
Here's a short video of what we get to experience any time one of us leaves the property.
P.S. Oliver absolutely loves when I play this. It gets him all excited. I think he knows just how tough he sounds.
