The quiet, laid back weekend was much appreciated after a stress filled week at work.  My sister-in-law and brother-in-law came to visit on Saturday.  It's so nice to see them.  We had burgers and dogs on the grill and Peanut Butter Pie for dessert.  The dogs and Jack the cat-dog love company and since my sister-in-law showers them with attention they just can't get enough of her.

The rest of the weekend was quiet - working in the yard {us and the chickens}, walking through the state park, wrestling with the dogs, catching up on laundry, cooking and reading.

I have a few jars of tomato products left from canning season last summer.  I'm pleasantly surprised that I was successful at estimating the amount we would need.  This year will be year #2 for canning and I can't wait to try new things.

The sun is expected to be out a good portion of this week so I have hope my asparagus will finally peek above ground.  My carrots began doing so last weekend but the chickens accidentally tilled most of them up in their search for worms.  I came home to a bed full of baby carrots laying on their sides.  Jay said "oh, is that what those things were???"  Yes dear, "were" is the correct word to use.  He then suggested I just put them back in the ground.  He demonstrated this by sticking them in the ground and stomping them down.  He is clearly not the gardener of the family.

I'm heading back to the kitchen to whip up Peanut Butter Bars {recipe to come}.  This week I'll also be posting my very favorite window cleaner recipe, talking about homemade dish soap recipes, and a Chicken Riggi recipe.

Happy Sunday!  Hoping you all had a wonderful weekend!

I found your blogs a few weeks ago and have been pouring through all your posts. Today's post got me all excited! My husband's family (mom's side) is from Saratoga Springs and Middle Grove. We try to get up there as often as possible. I love the weather there. Great post!

What a great state park to wander thru! I got carried away with tomatoes last summer. Many jars left in the pantry. Oh no on the baby carrots!! An aspragus patch in the works for this year.

Liz - that's great that you have an asparagus patch in the works. You will find yourself checking for green everyday as soon as Spring arrives. :)
