Weekend

This weekend's post is all about our new business, Cobble Hill Farm Handcrafted Soap, and the craft show we attended this weekend in Saranac Lake.

Simply put, we had a great show.  Our Body Butter and Lotion Sticks were bigger hits then either of us could have imagined.  What I discovered was that people assume when they read "Body Butter" that it will be like all the other body butter's they've tried.  Heavy and greasy.  Not so.  Once they tried ours they had to have it.  They couldn't believe how soft, instantly soothing and non-greasy it is.  We sold out!!  Both our vanilla and lavender scents were huge hits once again.

I really wasn't sure how the Lotion Sticks would go over.  I knew if people tried them, they'd love them, but that they might be surprised at the thought of a solid lotion.  Most were intrigued, and when they tried it, sure enough, loved it.  Hooray!  We went there with a box full and came home with 3.

We had such wonderful comments and praise for our products - it was so nice to hear.  Our lip balms sold like hotcakes and we sold a lot of pump lotions as well.  The soap....well, we know that sells, and sell it did.  Barbershop was extremely popular again as was Oatmeal Cookie, Adirondack Forest and Catskill Mountain.

The comments shared about our sugar and salt scrubs were that they smelled so good they wanted to eat them.  We laughed because we said the same thing as we were making them.  J practically drooled over the Brown Sugar Buttercream and the Chocolate Amaretto scrubs.

After the last craft show we had come up with an idea of how we wanted to display the soap going into this craft show, so J built 3 crates based on our ideas.  He also built a lip balm case to match.  They worked fabulously and people loved them.  We had numerous people say our packaging was so simple and attractive, and that it reminded them of a General Store.  We came away from the show with a couple of more ideas for shelving, a backdrop and a banner/tablecloth.  We'll be working hard at those this week to prepare for next weekend's show.

We met a ton of wonderful people, made some new friends, learned about a handful of different shows we hadn't heard about, and received a couple of business leads.  We're exhausted but had such a wonderful time.  All the critters were pretty happy to have us home.

Hoping you all had a wonderful weekend as well!

It's no surprise that you sold out of so many things. That's what happens when you create something out of love. You know I wish you continued success!
