Eggs? What Are Eggs???

We haven't received gifts from the Coop Girls in so long, we're starting to forget what eggs actually look like!  Ok, that's not true, but it really has been a long time.  About a month.

Other than that, they are doing pretty well.

It's been a rough month for them.  The newest girls we brought in haven't been very healthy.  We lost 2 and have had 2 more that were sick.  One appears to be fully healthy again and the other is getting close.

This is the problem with bringing in older chicks or pullets.  You just don't know what they are bringing in and you don't know how they will respond to anything your current flock may have.

Fingers crossed they will do well the rest of winter.

And start laying soon.

Happy Thursday!!

Sorry to hear about your lost and sick chickens . . . but I must say that photo is absolutely beautiful - truly.

Our young chickens are just beginning to lay eggs. I've received two in two weeks. Every day brings new hope.:) Days will be getting longer soon.

Our flock hasn't been laying much at all this winter either! This is the hens' second winter so I assume it's because they are getting older. We plan to breed them in the spring for more chicks. I raise American Dominiques. Your photograph is stunning!

Fingers crossed for your ladies! I've been reading a lot of posts from chickenkeepers who are saying they are getting no eggs this winter. Here's hoping the rest of your chicks stay healthy and start producing some lovely eggs for you.

PS - The photo in this post is gorgeous! said...

Hope the girls are all healthy and laying soon. That is an awesome photo.

Hi Staci! Long time no see! This photo is soooo gorgeous. The light is lovely. We're only getting one egg every other day so I don't know what eggs are anymore either haha. My girls are all just getting older. I hope your flock gets healthy again soon! It's stressful having sick chickens.

I hope you've been well the last few months. I've really missed checking your blog. I need to catch back up!

Just like with your getting eggs from your Coop Girls, its been too long since I've stopped by your blog, and I've missed it!

I do hope all is well, and that you've had a good weekend. I also hope that your girls start feeling better and do well in the cold months ahead.

After having such a rough year last year, I know what you are going through. I am definitely more careful now on where I get my pullets from.

Hoping you are enjoying some scrambled eggs soon :)
