Because of the ridiculously cold temps, the farmer's market was closed today. Although we love attending the market, it was a fabulous opportunity to get a few things done that we've been wanting to do. I made French Toast for breakfast, a Red Velvet Cake for J for dessert, cleaned up the soap room, went through my closet and purged a few things, and went to the laundromat to do 3 loads of laundry.
Why the laundromat?
Oh, that would be because on Saturday morning, when a load of laundry was just about finished in our washing machine, there was a strong smell of burning rubber. As soon as I opened the door, out came smoke. Ugh..... It's only about 5 years old so we're assuming a belt or something has gone on it. Fingers crossed that's all it is because we will be replacing it in a couple of months when we re-do the bathroom and laundry room. Until then, I need it to work.
J got more snow blowing done. Yup, we had more snow. Not much though - about 6 inches. It was the temps and wind chill that were more than a bit uncomfortable for the day.
We opened the coop door this afternoon to go in and clean. The girls took a look outside and went right back in. No thank you, they said to the chilly windy day. Instead, they returned to enjoy warm oatmeal and leftover mac & cheese that I brought to cheer them up. Not so sure it cheered them up but they definitely enjoyed it.
Tonight, the dogs are cuddling by the pellet stove and I'm selecting a few more seeds to buy for this year's garden.
On the menu this week: Slow-Cooker Baby Back Ribs with Mac & Cheese and Broccoli; Seafood Gratin with Rice and Asparagus; Homemade Pizza & Wings with Salad; Seared Pork Chops with Pierogies and Butternut Squash; Beef & Bean Burritos with Mexican Rice and Corn; and Chicken with Pasta and Spinach Cream Sauce.
Hoping you've had a wonderful weekend!
