The forecast is a 50% chance of rain today.  I'm waiting {patiently} for it to arrive.  My flowers, lawn and veggies would love to feel the warm, soaking drops.

I made the Strawberry-Lemonade Squares that I wrote about on last week's "three".  I made a raspberry version and a strawberry version although I used my crust recipe.  My version of the recipe is {here}, on my cooking blog.  They are delicious!  The perfect little after dinner treat.

My garden seems to be doing very well.  Every morning and every evening when I come home from work I chase the critters out.  I have a large number of green tomatoes, baby cukes, green beans, and mini carrots. It looks like they will all be ready around the same time.  Because my garden is somewhat shaded the veggies tend to take more time to ripen.  However, the plus side of it is my plants typically stay healthier and get larger with a decent production because of it.

My lilies and black-eyed susan flowers are blooming this weekend.

Two of the chicks will go home with a friend of ours next weekend.  Although it will be incredibly hard to see them go, I think the remaining 5 + Mama Claire will have more space.  They are about 2-3 weeks away from getting released into the main coop with the big girls.  We just want to make sure they will be large enough to defend themselves so they aren't killed by the others.  Nature can be brutal.

I planted herbs in my salad beds since the critters continue to destroy them.  Since the salad beds are a few feet tall, the only thing getting them now are birds.  The birds I can deal with - they don't steal as much as rabbits and woodchucks.

I'm making my laundry and dishwashing soaps this week.  I'll get the directions and recipes on the blog by this weekend I'm hoping.

Hoping you all had a wonderful weekend!

I have watched this random woodchuck eat my neighbors flowers and vegetables. I yell at him but he is so brazen he looks at me and continues his feast. Good luck with your garden. I hope you get lots of health veggies free from critter bites..

Definitely going to try those strawberry-lemonade squares. The lemon squares were a big hit at girls' night.
