Homestead Journal - Summer At Cobble Hill Farm (entry 5)

So much zucchini, so little time!

Hello!  How are you?  How is your garden doing?  I'm hoping that you are well, and your garden is bountiful.

This summer has been a hot one.  Has it been for you as well?  Despite the heat the weeds continue to grow rapidly.  Some days it gets frustrating but there's nothing like picking fresh fruit and vegetables from your backyard.

This year's mini garden is doing well.  I hope to go back to a larger garden next year.  I miss growing an abundance.  Our fruit trees still have about a month to go before we harvest, and we've picked blueberries at a local farm for fresh eating and putting up in the freezer and are purchasing our sweet corn from another

The Canadian wildfires have provided a hazy smoky environment for us.  While many days you can hardly detect it, there have been days where it's hazy and sometimes you can smell a faint smoky smell.  It's amazing how far it can travel.

Earlier in the summer I shared that I would not be posting much so that I could limit my time online and spend more time enjoying the summer as well as reading and hobbies.  It's been wonderful!  So wonderful that I'm going to continue it through fall and possibly winter too.  Our business and homestead take first priority, of course, but I'll be continuing to find time to read a lot more.  Additionally, I'll be (virtually) attending a free crochet academy this month to learn more stitches as well as to better understand how to adapt a pattern.  I'm also planning to (virtually) attend an embroidery class this fall.  I want to learn more stitches in embroidery too since I enjoy it so much.

I have another post going up Wednesday listing some of the books I've read recently as well as my current TBR stack.  After that, I'm honestly not sure when I'll post again.  I've removed the email newsletter sign-up because I didn't want people to sign up thinking it is an active list.  I only send an email if I post, so it may be a while between emails.  If you would like to be added so that you can see when I post again, feel free to email me and I can add you.

I hope you've had a wonderful summer so far.  Thank you for stopping by!
